but yeah.Posted by: ShadowCat« on: April 23, 2013, 10:19:40 AM »I think I have said before that we could use a different email/account for the shared stuff if that was a issue. It hasn't been for me though. I do have a little on it, but not a ton of stuff.
And as for how it was set up. I'd thought it fine. Having a folder for each of use and then for each subject in other areas was good. Make it easier to find stuff and not have it all mixed together. You only get two gigabytes to start with for dropbox and some people use it for other things besides just the community folder.
Posted by: Aether Engine« on: April 22, 2013, 06:20:11 PM »I didn't find space to be an issue. Got a pretty big harddrive, so I wouldn't mind if it were to eat up a few gigs worth.
Much the divisions felt good to my recollection, having parts for RPs, maps, personal folders for members. I think I recall a minecraft folder--while I didn't use it much, it seems like it could be good to use though, especially for planning big, communal projects like the theme park. I think there may have been a few times when I stumbled with finding stuff, but I think was only occasionally. Posted by: abadlex« on: April 22, 2013, 12:46:08 PM »I don't see anything to be changed... In fact, I thought it was well organized.
Posted by: Qu33n0f1c3« on: April 22, 2013, 06:44:24 AM »To all the folks who tested this out: I'm looking for feedback.
I plan to restructure the community folder before I add everyone back. Was there anything you felt was annoying about the shared folder? Was there anything you would change? Did it take up too much space or was it not an issue? Any and all feedback welcome--please say what you liked and hated. Posted by: Qu33n0f1c3« on: August 14, 2012, 06:56:21 PM »Then don't use it, Speedy. If it's that big a deal to you, don't use it. I just wanted to try and find a nice, fun way to get everyone on the site connected, together, as a community. You can go ahead and have your space worries and problems and don't get involved. It's your choice. Whatever you want to do. I don't see it being an issue for anyone else.
For those who are interested: Leave your email in a post on here, and I'll add you to the shared folder. I'll be drafting up basic rules tomorrow. Nothing invasive, just little ones to make sure nothing goes awry. Posted by: Speedy« on: August 14, 2012, 06:46:35 PM »Dropbox allows you to make multiple accounts, you just need multiple email addresses.
And to be honest, the file size IS a minor concern for me, personally. I use my Dropbox mostly for school related things, and despite that I've managed to scrounge up the nice amount of 12.25 GB, over 10 GB is already full.. >_>; Posted by: Qu33n0f1c3« on: August 14, 2012, 02:39:18 PM »I don't think so. dropbox logs your ip and might not let you make two accounts. if you don't use it much you likely have plenty of space to share.
so far I've really liked how it's done pop ups for new files. also, the user folders can act like a mailbox for people to give each other letters and messages. Posted by: ShadowCat« on: August 14, 2012, 11:53:30 AM »I don't think its that bad an idea. I just don't use the program a ton so don't have much to say about it. I wouldn't know if Speeds concern is a big one or not. I have been thinking about it sense I saw the suggestion though. I do think for simple sharing of things it wouldn't be that bad. Hmm is there anyway to make a separate account for the site?
Posted by: Qu33n0f1c3« on: August 14, 2012, 11:08:30 AM »There would be limitations on file sizes. No one would be allowed to upload so large a file at a time. I would maintain the space. Everyone gets two gigs to register. A couple hundred megabytes at the most for the site isn't going to break anyone's account.
And yes, you can add your own files. Aether tried it yesterday, adding a piece of fanart. Posted by: Alison« on: August 14, 2012, 08:56:06 AM »Upon checking I have 2.5 gig of free space. 20meg isn't much compared the to the amount you are given. I can't see that as a con point.
Does anyone have any view on how the dropbox folders should be set up? Anyone else planning to use it? Oh can we add our stuff at all? Posted by: Speedy« on: August 14, 2012, 06:42:29 AM »Not a good plan. A shared folder spreads the use among everyone's filesizes.
Basically, if I put in a 20 MB file, EVERYONE loses that from their maximum. A PUBLIC folder would work, but then other people couldn't put things in. Posted by: Qu33n0f1c3« on: August 14, 2012, 04:07:06 AM »This is a second request for more feedback. Please? I was really excited about this.
