The Palace of Role Play

While Datan was still working on making some construction to roast the meat.. and failing horribly at doing so, as it didn't stay standing..

Mono was worried where the conversation between Louisa and the other Digimon were going.. nervously so. The Betamon seemed incredibly hostile.. and it didn't seem like they were going to get any fruit any time soon.

"I.." He wanted to comment, but wasn't sure what to say. It was the Betamon's right to refuse.. and by the looks of it, that was happening. But why the hostility? What's going on..? And why does it seem as if the Betamon's fruit was pretty much all they had left..?

"..I.. Is there.. enough fruit for everyone?" He said it. The question he wanted to ask. and now he was worried if he accidentally insulted someone.

"So do I.." Datan cautiously replied. He was happy the entire fire-making-plan had worked, but actually doing it was nothing short of exhausting. Despite having a flame going, he was still sitting in the same position, quite unwilling to get up for now. He was sitting there juuuuust fine. The Gizamon and Betamon appearing and speaking to them didn't change that sentiment at all.

"Yes, please." Mono replied, almost instantly, at the Gizamon's question. "If.. if you could still get some fruit, I think it'd be great. Though I'm not sure if we'd still need the same amount.." He looked at both his friend and Louisa.. "I can't exactly speak for the others, after all."

Datan, still seated on the floor, just sighed. He wasn't sure. Would the others even find something to eat..? Sure, they got a fire going, but it could still be all for naught... "I.. personally think that we shouldn't blindly rely on the others hunting, anyway. I assume they're pretty good at hunting, but that doesn't mean there actually is anything.." He paused for a moment..

"If they come back without anything, and we would say 'Oh, no, we don't need the fruit anymore', then there'd be nothing at all.. If we end up not needing the fruit after all, we can always see what with the do with it then.. Ah.. I mean, well.." Datan nervously looked at Louisa for a second.. "I.. There's just no certainty until they get back, I guess?"

"Ah, thanks!" Datan took the bark from Louisa and looked at it. It seemed like it would work well, although it was a bit small.. Would it even work? They didn't exactly have enough to make a small bow of sorts, so this'd require much strength and patience..

He grabbed a few of the twigs Louisa had put down, and looked at them, before stripping one of them repeatedly, and tried to tie the pieces together to form a.. really stringy piece of rope. "Hrm, I'm starting to wonder if this will even work, what do you think, Mono?" Ofcourse, his friend just stared at him. If it was precision work and things that required small hands, the Monodramon wasn't exactly the go-to guy. So he just stared. Now if it was a bigger rope..

"...Right, this is gonna be tricky." Datan looked back at the shoddy rope he tried to create and twisted more of the wood into a crappy rope. Up until he just gave up because the thing fell apart and he realized he just essentially wasted a few twigs on trying to do something that wasn't gonna work properly. "Okay, new plan. Mono, can you uh.." He looked around and grabbed a somewhat thicker twig, which he then threw at Mono. "Can you make the end like a somewhat sharp point?"

Datan grabbed the piece of bark again and put it down in front of him. He then took the remains of the shoddy rope and dumped it on top of the bark. He subconciously rubbed his eyes before looking at his friend.. who had scratched the twig until it was somewhat... okay, not even close to a sharp point. But it would have to do. No rope, just tinder and a twig. Excellent. Except not really.

Even so, Datan took the twig and put the sharp end against the bark, making sure some of the rope-remains had gotten under it.. Now it was just a matter of hoping it works while rubbing the stick. "..Just.. give me some time. Alot of it, probably." Yeah, he was pretty sure this was in fact NOT going to work. Maybe he should try it with two stones..?

Ofcourse, just when Datan was about to give up, if not from believing it wasn't going to work, then from the fact this was exhausting as all heck.. a small ember had appeared in the midst of it all. Seeing both the exhaustion on his friend's face AND this small ember appearing, Mono ducked down and blew some air on it, causing the ember to become a small flame in the midst of the tinder. "..Okay.. guess I got lucky this time." It didn't take long for Mono to use the flame to start a proper fire.. nor for Datan to drop on his back on the ground. Maybe he should've let Mono handle this in the first place...

Mono simply nodded at Louisa's last statement. He wasn't exactly sure what she meant by it, but he didn't feel like asking right now either. He assumed it had to do with how Enesmon could take any form they wanted anyway, so what would it matter, right..? He shook his head, realizing he was thinking a bit too lightly about it all..

He was the first to step outside, following the Betamon and noticing the pit it had pointed out. He also immediately noticed the lack of tinder. "I'm not sure if we can make a fire in this.. At least not without something to burn."

Datan had followed Mono, arriving at the pit barely a second later.. "So, we should go gather some wood? Does seem a bit odd that there isn't anything.. you can find dead twigs basically anywhere.." He looked around and wondered.. "Should be a forest nearby if we want bigger logs.. or at least some trees.. Some dried leaves would work too, though we'd need alot of those.. But I figure these sticks should be enough..?"

Mono sighed as Datan mentioned that. "Also, how are we going to make a fire in the first place.." In the village, there was always someone with a fire attack, but now..? "Well, we still need materials to burn first, I guess.. What do you think, Louisa?" Mono turned back, assuming Louisa to be there..

Datan nodded at Raphael mentioning that 'any training is good training'.. But thought about how it might not be enough. Was being able to become a Digimon truly needed for him to fend off enemies? He thought for a moment about asking Raphael, but decided not to. He was still tired, and was sort of afraid that he might not catch the important bits. He had already wanted to ask about the details of these transformations a few times, but kept holding back.. He figured it might just be best to relax for a bit. For now, at least.

He snapped out of his thoughts as Raphael left the room. It was then that he realized Raphael had asked him whether he wanted to check it out, too.. and well, that he had basically not answered. Raphael excusing himself even somewhat passed over his head.. It annoyed him, how easy it was to get lost in thoughts.. especially when tired. As if all sorts of ideas, plans and questions arise just to irritate him with their incredibly horrid timing.

So as Raphael left the room, Datan just slouched backwards. It wasn't that he was really THAT tired, but.. just everything combined left him somewhat exhausted. He wondered for a bit if just sitting there would be plenty.. He laughed softly, realizing just how silly it was- for him, as a fairly energetic guy, to just be exhausted from everything. Well, it WAS his idea to leave that early, and neither him nor Mono had gotten alot of sleep.. I guess he more wondered why Mono wasn't as tired as he was. Then again, Mono was more.. calm than he was. He probably exhausted himself by being so excited the whole time...

At the same time, Mono was thinking about small things of his own, like the fact that there was apparantly trouble to get food. When Raphael rejoined the group, he focused on him for a sec, keeping silent meanwhile. He wasn't sure how to react to all of this.. Just how the Digimon and Enesmon reacted to each other seemed weird to him. Then again, he lived knowing Datan most of his life.. to him, speaking to Datan was just as normal as anyone else in the village..

So all of this was new to him too. A bit.. disconcerting.. Never mind when the others started talking about hunting. Hunting.. what, precisely? Digimon? No, no, they probably meant hunting for food.. fruits, vegetables.. Er.. Probably not vegetables. He doubted there would be many vegetables.. And thus him being pre-occupied with his own thoughts continued until he realized both Dyna and Raphael had left the room. He caught Raphael mentioning something about getting a fire done.

Fire? So they WERE going to hunt for meat.. The memories of Raphael's IceDevimon transformation sprang back to his mind, and for a moment, he closed his eyes.. until he suddenly made a fist and got up. He shouldn't have to be afraid.. It's still Raphael, despite what he looks like, right? It was still the same person and he wasn't going to harm him. Maybe a random digimon for food, but.. not.. him.. right..? "Looks like it's just me, you and him for a while." Eh?

"Ah, er, right." Mono answered shortly.. He wondered if it would be a good idea to get Datan from the room.. It was then that the Betamon barged into the room and demanded to know what 'manner of terrible beast' he and Louisa could become. He wanted to laugh, as it was sort of obvious he was a Monodramon, but before he could give any manner of reply, Louisa did, stating she could change into a Piyomon.

Mono looked at Louisa and thought for a second. Piyomon were small pink feathered creatures right..? "...Would that.. make me taller than you...?" Was his first reaction. His second was, well.. "Er.. I mean, er.. sorry." a hastened apology. He turned to the Betamon immediately afterwards. "..As for me, well, I can turn into an Strikedramon. Eventually. I hope. Depends on when and how I digivolve, I guess.." He stated flat out... leaving only a small silent portion "...I'll go get Datan." He said to Louisa, albeit without looking at her.

When he got into the room, he noticed Datan slouched against the wall on the bed. His eyes closed. Mono wondered for a second if he was asleep, but a loud sigh confirmed he was not. "Er, Datan? Raphael and Dyna have left to go hunt for food, and uh.. they asked if we would make the fire. Louisa's still here and.. Well, it just seems best if you'd be there, too." was Mono's reply to the sigh. His friend was still awake, so he should hear this just fine..

"..Alright, Mono, I'll be there in a sec.." Datan replied, with another loud sigh. Mono hesitated to leave the room, but when he saw his friend get up, they both got out of the room. Datan rubbed his eyes for a bit, before looking at Louisa and the Betamon. He was still a bit tired.. just sitting back with his eyes closed for a bit did seem to have calmed him down, but until he got some proper sleep, he'd probably stay tired. "I just.. need to keep my enthousiasm low for now... before I really fall asleep, heh.." He smiled a bit.. "So.. I heard we were supposed to make a fire?"

Mono wasn't sure what to think. Hearing the comments from the other Digimon, he wondered just what was going on.. but it's behaviour felt incredibly off. As if they simply couldn't care they had guests. But at the same time, knowing how the situation is.. at least, being told what it was by the Enesmon surrounding him.. it seems obvious the Digimon are being hostile towards the Enesmon.. and at the same time, maybe they really didn't have anything to eat? The situation just seemed like it had spiralled out of control, something he had never thought about when he was still living in the village.

Perhaps that is why they had been living so secluded. They usually had enough to eat for the entire village, and it seemed the village was self-sufficient enough to keep that up for a long while. He thought for a moment that perhaps nobody ever knew about the village, but the small amount of traders that seemed to come around now and then would've proven otherwise.. Then again, perhaps ONLY those traders knew..? He shook his head, and looked at Dyna and Louisa. No use thinking about things like that. He wasn't in the village right now.. but there was little he could do now. His mind instead went to thinking if perhaps the Betamon thought HE was an Enesmon, who had changed into a Monodramon.. Because it didn't seem they gave him any different reaction than the Enesmon..

Datan, however, was faced with a completely different set of thoughts. He listened carefully to Raphael's words, his attention broken only for the moment as Raphael looked outside the room.. "..Yeah.. I'll try not to get into a fight. Though I'm.. kinda strong? I think? Thinking about it though, you can't really count play fighting as a good measurement can you.." He stopped talking as his own thoughts were disrupted by trailing off into memories of the village..

"Adventure, mostly." Mono looked at Dyna, answering her straight to the point. It was then that he realized he was in fact looking directly at her, and got pretty much nervous.

"I.. I mean.. as far as either of us can remember, we lived in the village. Nothing really changed in all the years.. Datan could never sit still. If he wasn't doing a chore for someone in the village, he was out in the forest surrounding the village, climbing trees, exploring.. We knew little to nothing of what was outside the village.." He looked away for a second.

"We.. we just.. We just wanted to see what's out here. Outside of the village.. I.. I was.. kind of afraid at first.. But I didn't want to let Datan down.. If I wasn't going, then.. he probably wouldn't have either.. And we might've never found out everything we did today.."

With a bit of a sad look on his face, the Monodramon just looked away.. "..I know it's probably a poor reason, but.. we both felt kinda trapped there. Neither of us was really looking forward to spend our entire lives in the village, no matter how peaceful it might've been.."
