Pokemon: Fate of the Gods operates slightly differently than the pokemon anime and video games. This RP game takes a somewhat more true-to-world approach to pokemon, upping the level of danger that new trainers face, taking some pokemon and making them slightly more in line with their animal counter-parts, and adding in some more realistic stakes for capturing and raising creatures that are sometimes ten times your weight and able to kill with a single stroke! If you are looking for an RP that plays just like the games, you might want to look elsewhere; but if you're interested in looking at pokemon from a different angle, then this may just be for you!
The Region of Rhura
Rhura is an original pokemon region that has somewhat different principals than the other regions of the pokemon world. In Rhura, citizens are less likely to battle pokemon for sport and to the point of fainting, and may sometimes look down upon immigrants are are too eager to make their pokemon fight for their own pleasure.
That is not to say that pokemon battles are banned in this region; far from it! Trainers here are just more careful about their pokemon's health, and when engaging in battle, will do so for the sake of helping both of the pokemon build their skills. There are a variety of ways to train, from gyms (which give badges, but do not apply to any internal pokemon league), to obstacle courses at pokemon parks.
Rules Particular to the Rhuran Region
- Similar to the games, trainers are encouraged to only keep 6 pokemon on their belt, but it is more of a guideline for adults, who may or may not carry more depending on their occupation and personal preference.
- The 6 pokemon limit is strictly imposed on new trainers; according to Rhuran law, should he acquire more, he must trade off, sell, or release some of his other pokemon. The starter pokemon must not be traded, sold, or released for the entirety of the first year's journey.
IMPORTANT: Differences Between Game/Anime Lore and RP Lore
Team organizations exist as criminal enterprises, but are not out for complete world domination or to hunt down and capture the legendary pokemon.
Pokemon don't quite level up, but they do grow stronger through maturing, having battle experience, and aging.
Pokemon centers act like a sort of boarding facility for children on their journeys. They not only heal injured pokemon, but provide lodging, serve food, and allow for other necessities of living, such as the ability to do laundry or to take a shower.
There is no such thing as a ?shiny? pokemon. However, pokemon also won't necessarily come in exactly one shade or pattern of fur. A growlith might be more red than others of its kind, or treeko might have darker scales than others.
Pokemon are just like animals. Some might be kept as pets, but not all are ideal for being used for a trainer's team. Some might even be
considered more of a meal than training material, such as buneary.
Pokemon may, in fact, be hunted, so long as the entire creature is made use of. Hunting for sport is prohibited.
Psychic pokemon are not able to communicate with human beings through telepathy in most cases. There are some which have the ability to
communicate telepathically, but the language would not be English.
Not all pokemon will lay eggs. Most mammal pokemon will have live young after being pregnant, and many reptiles will lay eggs in nests and will have to guard them.
During travel on an official road or in a crowded town, only one pokemon may remain out of its ball. This pokemon may not be taller than the trainer for safety reasons.
There is no pokemon league for Rhura, but badges from the gyms in Rhura may be used in any other region's pokemon league.
Technical machines (TMs) exist as experimental biological modification procedures and are considered extremely dangerous and unpredictable, not to mention expensive to undergo.
Pokemon are born with their full set of moves, including egg moves. They may also know any moves that make sense according to their species. However, the power level of these moves greatly depends on the age of the pokemon. Just because a baby pokemon knows flamethrower, doesn't mean that it will be able to use it right. It might just come out looking like a lighter.
Some pokemon will not exist due to their being legends, or their being illogical to reproduce. Magnemite, anyone? Voltorb? <_<
Pokedollars are roughly equivalent to US dollars. P100 = $100. P50 = $50. P2.50 = $2.50.
