Stanley felt a little bad that he couldn't help Abby. Stanley was quiet as Abby spoke once more. Stanley was curious to know if Taylor did live in this city or if he had come on in from an ourside place. But what was more curious was Abby's decleration on Rhyhorn being one of the choices. So the boy liked rock Pokemon in general but didn't want to have one as his first partner with it being bulky? Stanley felt that was a little odd but didn't want to be rude.

As Taylor responded, he got his answer. So the boy did live here. Stanley had not knowingly seen him before. That stood to reason though, this was a big city and he would not know everyone.

He listened as Taylor answered the boy before he chipped in himself.

"Everyone has thier choices for whatever reason," he smiled. "I don't find it silly."

He opened his mouth to continue on, but was interupted by the clerk calling.

"Next trainer please,"

Stanley turned, this was his time.

"Ah sorry guys i'll see you in a little while as we agreed," he breathed. "Good luck!"

Stanley stepped forward with his slip in hand, passing it over to the male intern. He stood nervously as he waited for the man to be finished. At a doorway was another man with a green card in his hand.

"Head to room 2 please," the intern stated upon handing over Stanley's ID card. Taking a slight breath, Stanley started to walk towards the door. He glanced behind him, gave a wave to both Abby and Taylor.

So Taylor did live in the city as well as Stanley, although they didn't seem to know each other. It stood to reason though, seeing how big the city...

The two of them moved on to explaining that his reasonings were not silly. Taylor had metioned that he would rather go with a type that he likes, his choices being ones he didn't really like type-wise. This made Abby wonder about Taylor's favourite types...

But then Stanley was called to the desk and was soon directed to one of the rooms. Before entering, Stanley glanced back to wave at him and Taylor. Abby returned the wave.

"Guess I'm going to be next..." Abby thought. "Any second no-"

"Next trainer, please" the clerk called, snapping Abby out of his thoughts.

"Looks like it's my turn as well..." Abby said before giving Taylor a smile. "Don't worry, I won't be taking too long. Like I said, going with the first one that pops into my head. Be ready to get your choice over and done with"

He then went and handed the clerk his papers, waiting patiently as the man typed in the info. He was handed an ID card.

"Head to room 1 please" the clerk simply said, indicating the clearly marked door. Abby rolled his eyes and walked over there. He knew where a clearly marked door was...

Upon entering the room, he was greeted by another person.

"Please take a look at the list over there and pick one..." the aide started before noticing that Abby had his eyes closed. "Um..."

"Pidgey" Abby simply said, opening his eyes. He had literally done what he said he would do... Chose the first one that popped into his head.

"Um... Ok, then" the aide said, a bit surprised. "Right this way"

"Good luck!" Taylor called. He returned Stanley's wave. And then it was Abby's turn as well. Taylor gave a playful shove in response to the other's smile and talk of not taking too long. He laughed, watching Abby hand over his papers, receive an ID card, and head to one of the rooms. And just like that, Taylor was waiting for one of the two to exit with their new pokemon so he could move forward and choose his own.

"Crazy," he mumbled to himself, looking down to his papers and shuffling through them. And then a second time, simply because it was something to focus on instead of building nerves and excitement. He messed with a strap on his backpack. Shuffled his feet. Looked at the clerk, looked away, looked back at the clerk and felt awkward for making eye contact.

"Bulbasaur or Mudkip," he muttered to himself, disappointed that he still couldn't narrow it down to which of those two he wanted to go with.

Stanley smiled as he saw both boys wave and then heard Taylor call good luck. Normally he would think he didn't need it, but it really was nice to hear someone shout words of encouragement to him. With a final nod he entered the room and allowed the door to be closed behind him.

Stanley had expected to see the Pokemon before him. Not a white set of walls, wooden floor and a stainless steel table attached to the wall. It was sort of a let down in a way. But he didn't get long to think about.

"The information you need to help choose your Pokemon is on the table," the aide told him. "Once you are ready I can take you into the back to choose the Pokemon you want."

Ahhh so the Pokemon were in another room, he was supposed to make a choice of species in here?

"Thank you," he nodded to the aide as he headed towards the table. He had seen the list before but he still had little idea.

Flipping through the information, Stanley realised there was a lot to take in about the Pokemon in a short space of time. Their pictures were present along with their growth information, their diet and the personalities. After flipping through once, he went back through the sheets. He stopped at Pichu. It seemed a reasonable Pokemon to choose based upon it's information. Sure they were quick little Digimon, but that could be part of the fun right?

Stanley rolled his eyes at this thought. It wasn't like anyone could answer his internal thoughs and he doubted that the aide would want to hear such things.

"I think I would like to see the Pichu please," he informed the aide.

"Sure thing," she nodded in return as she guided the boy towards the backroom.

Stanley was now starting to feel somewhat excited about being so close. The nerves were very slowy starting to disperse.

Abby was led through the room lined with cages, stopping in front of the one with Pidgeys. Looking in, he could already some taking interest in him, waiting for him to enter. The aide opened the door for him, ushering him in and telling him to take his time in choosing one.

As soon as he entered and the door was shut behind him, some Pidgeys moved over to him, looking up at him with interest. The ones that stayed far away looked at him timidly, so Abby chose to leave them alone. The remainder that weren't close to him were either ignoring him or merely glancing at him. Abby soon lost interest in those ones, turning his attention back to the ones that came up to him. Some of them were trying to grab his attention, flapping their wings or cooing loudly. Abby would have paid them no heed as he didn't like attention whores... But one thing did catch his eye.

While trying to catch his attention, one of the Pidgeys accidently knocked over another that had tried to move past it and closer to Abby. A third Pidgey moved closer to the knocked over Pidgey, looking concerned... At least it seemed that way to Abby. The Pidgey certainly seemed to be a caring soul as it waited til the other Pidgey got back up and moved away.

The caring Pidgey started to turn its attention back to Abby, only to find itself being picked up by him. It gave a little happy flap of its wings and settled down in his arms as the soon-to-be trainer held the Pokemon.

A short while later, Abby found himself handing more papers to a person behind a desk, his new partner perched on his right shoulder.

After typing in some information, the person behind the desk asked. "Does she have a name yet?"

Although he never thought of a nickname for his new partner, Abby felt he could think of one right on the spot. "A name for a bird Pokemon... One that is female or gender-neutral..."

Looking at the Pokemon on his shoulder, Abby asked it. "How do you feel about being called 'Aeroxia'?"

With a happy flap of her wings, Abby knew he picked a good name. So did the person behind the desk.

"An interesting name... Your Pokemon certainly likes it" the person said with a smile before finishing up with an ID scan and such. Abby was then handed a package labelled 'Trainer starter kit'. "Don't lose any of the stuff in here, it's really important"

"I see. Thank you" Abby said, picking the package up and walking away.

Making his way to the bench he had pointed out to Stanley and Taylor before, Abby gently placed his kit down on the ground and picked Aeroxia up off his shoulder. Placing her on the bench and taking off his backpack, Abby took a seat beside his Pokemon and picked his kit back up. Opening it up and putting the money card in his wallet along with putting the Pokedex in his pocket, Abby began to transfer stuff from the kit to his backpack, placing each item in carefully.

Stanley followed the aide into the backroom. There they were. All the different starter Pokemon in the cage pens. The several types watched as Stanley passed on his way to the Pichu cage. Paying little attention to the eyes watching him, Stanley stood before the cage.

"I'll give you five mintues to make your choice," the aide informed him as she unlocked the door. "Once you have picked your Pokemon, pick it up and bring it outside ok?"

"Alright thank you."

Stepping inside, Stanley looked as several of the Pichu picked up interest in him. Most were squeeking away quite happily and dancing around Stanley's legs. Stanley was slightly amused at the Pokemon's antics. This is what he wanted from a Pokemon. Not something that wasn't interested. There was a particular Pichu that was trying to climb his leg. It's excited squeek causing Stanley to look at it.

The other Pichu was trying to knock it out of the way in the hope that Stanley would choose them instead of the other Pichu. The Pichu started to back away, a little intimidated by the others. That settled it for Stanley, the boy gently ushering the other Pichu away from him. The Pichu that had first caught his eye was now sat looking up towards the boy.

"Well little Pichu," he stated softly. "What's say you become my first Pokemon?"

The Pokemon's eyes lit up as Stanley spoke. The little rodent scampering around his legs before once again trying to climb them. With another chuckle, Stanley bent down and picked it up. The Pichu seemed content to be carried out of the holding cage. The door was closed behind him by the aide. The woman then beckoning the boy to follow her for the Pokemon to be checked over.

"Please place the Pichu onto the table to allow me to check it's details for you."

Stanley placed his Pokemon onto the table for the aide to check.

"Right then let's see," she mused as she looked at the Pichu and then to her paperwork. "Obvious the Pokemon you have chosen is a Pichu. Looking to the scale she wrote the weight. "4.3 pounds, one of the more lighter Pokemon for certain."

Carefully taking hold of the Pichu in her hand, she twirrlled it around before looking below the tail. The Pokemon gently wafting it's tail at the aide.

"Female and seems rather gentle," she noted before allowing the Pokemon to scamper back towards her trainer.

Upon hearing female, Stanley wondered if he should rechoose. He doubted his father would be best pleased, but it wasn't like he knew the Pokemon's sex and did it on purpose. No, he wouldn't ask. It wouldn't be fair on the Pokemon and course raise some awkward questions from the woman aide. The woman handed over a form to Stanley as Pichu nestled into Stanley's arm.

"Take this to the desk in the lobby please," she told him. "They will tell you what happens next. Make sure to take good care of her ok?"

"Yes ma'am," Stanley now smiled. "Thank you."

With a nod of her own, the aide escorted Stanley out and then signalled ready to take the next trainer in.

Stanley wasted no time heading towards the desk he needed. The aide took the paperwork that Stanley handed over. As the aide started to do his thing, he spoke to Stanley.

"Do you have a name for your new Digimon?" he asked.

"I haven't really thought of one," Stanley answered. "It was hard enough to pick a Pokemon in the first place. Is that ok?"

The aide gave a small smile "Sure it is," he responded. "Maybe after you've spent more time with your Pichu a nickname will develop on it's own. It isn't uncommon to not have a nickname a this point."

Stanley felt a little relieved and that would have shown on his face. The aide finished up and handed over a parcel and Stanley's ID.

"Right young man," the aide stated. "Here is your starter kit. It includes your Pokedex, some food, some healing items and your money card. These are important items so do not lose them."

"Yes sir," he nodded as he held Pichu in one arm, his items in the other. "I'll put them in my bag as soon as I can."

"Off you go then young man," the aid nodded.

Stanley turned to where he was supposed to meet the other. To his suprise Abby was there waiting for him. Had he really taken quite a while? Stanley headed over to the boy and grinned.

"Well I think it's obvious what we choose," he stated, placing his Pokemon on the bench before slipping his backpack off so he could put his parcel into the bag. After doing so he picked his Pokemon back up and sat down next to Abby.

"Did you find the choice easy in the end?"

Abby finished transferring the items from inside the package to his backpack, placing the now empty package to the side and closing his backpack. Aeroxia hopping onto his leg to take a look at something caught Abby's attention. That and Stanley placing his Pokemon on the bench, catching the attention of his partner...

"Of course it is" Abby replied to Stanley's statement. "I mean we had to look all that info we've been giving before-hand, right?"

As Aeroxia took an interest in the other Pokemon on the bench, Abby took a look as Stanley picked it up and sat down on the bench. The Pokemon in question was a Pichu, the cute and adorable electric Pokemon.

"Did you find the choice easy in the end?"

"Well... Let's see..." Abby responded. "When asked about which one I wanted to see, I just went to the first one that popped into my head"

"Inside the cage, it took a little while... But I noticed how caring this little gal was, so I chose her" Abby said as he picked up the Pidgey, causing it to coo happily in his arms. "The nickname was also an on-the-spot decision... But hey! She liked her name, right Aeroxia?"

Aeroxia gave a happy coo in response. Abby glanced at Stanley's Pichu. "So... Does your Pichu have a name?"

Apparently Abby hadn't picked up on his grin as he had stated the obvious. Not that it really mattered. Pichu was looking back to the bird Pokemn, twitching her tail as she did so. Mostly because she didn't know what to make of the Pokemon. She happily sat on Stanley's lap for the moment as Abby continued to speak with her trainer.

"It's true we had to look at a fair bit," Stanely answered with a slight chuckle. "It was mostly stated in jest though. It sounds like your choice of species was a little easier than choosing your Pokemon."

Looking down to his Pichu he then shook his head. "I haven't chosen a name for her yet," he admitted. "It wasn't something I had given much thought about before hand. I would like to name her. But i'm going to wait until she develops her own personaility to make my choice. Aeroxia certainly is a mouthful to say for your Pidgey."

"Ah... A jest" Abby thought to himself before speaking. "I see... But still..."

"But yeah. My choice of species was indeed the easiest part of my decision" Abby continued. "But with the way I decided, why wouldn't it?"

Abby looked at Stanley's Pichu as he looked at the little Pokemon as well. "I haven't chosen a name for her yet" Stanley admitted. "It wasn't something I had given much thought about before hand. I would like to name her. But i'm going to wait until she develops her own personaility to make my choice. Aeroxia certainly is a mouthful to say for your Pidgey"

"That's understandable" Abby stated. "I chose to make an on-the-spot decision and happened upon a name that she liked. You, on the other hand, chose to form more of a bond first so that you may choose such a name more easily"

Abby looked at Stanley and smiled. "And I'm sure you can pick a good one for her"

He glanced back at the Pichu. "An adorable one, isn't she?"

Aeroxia cooed up at Abby, who looked down at her and lightly pet her. "I wonder how Taylor is doing?"

Taylor had been wrapped up in trying to make a decision when a voice pulled him out of his thoughts. It was the clerk, who looked a little irritated. Taylor gave a sheepish grin as he handed over his papers. He shifted from foot to foot, waiting as his information was entered and focusing hard on the floor when the clerk gave him a questioning look.

"Okay, here," the clerk handed him an ID. Taylor nodded his head in thanks before making his way into the room he was pointed to. Entering the room, Taylor felt confused. There was a table attached to a wall, with something on it. But there weren't any pokemon. That only was causing Taylor's anxiety to increase.

"That's information on the pokemon," the aide spoke up. The aide had scared Taylor, to be honest; he hadn't noticed the person there. "Once you look it over and decide, I'll take you back to the pokemon."

"Sure," Taylor answered, walking over to the table. He looked through the information, seeing pictures, diets, behaviors, growth information. He flipped between Mudkip and Bulbasaur. An occasional flip to Cyndaquil, because he couldn't help himself and he did like those fire pokemon.

"Uh," he started, giving one final look at both Mudkp and Bulbasaur's information. Honestly he wasn't even sure which one he was going to ask for, but what came out of his mouth was, "Could I see the Bulbasaur?"

"Just follow me," the aide said, leading Taylor into the backroom where the Bulbasaur were held. She held the door open, saying "Five minutes. You pick the one you want out of there, bring it out with you."

"You got it," Taylor responded. He entered the room, looking at the various Bulbasaur. Some made noise, some started making their ways closer, and some simply ignored him. One, once it had reached him, was bumping it's head against his leg. And then a second felt the need to get in the way and push the first so they could push at Taylor's leg instead.

"Jeez, don't gotta fight," Taylor laughed, hunching down so he was balanced on the balls of his feet. He held out a hand and patted the two on the head. "Cute little guys."

One Bulbasaur in particular was being talkative. It was this Bulbasaur that caught Taylor's attention. "Well, you like talking, don't you?" The Bulbasaur continued making noise at Taylor. He laughed, standing back up and moving over to that Bulbasaur. "What do you say; you wanna come along with me?" The Bulbasaur stepped closer to Taylor. He took that as a 'yes' and picked up the Bulbasaur.

"You're heavier than you look," he laughed. The Bulbasaur grunted at him. "Or maybe I'm just weak." He exited the holding area, the aide leading him once again. He was instructed to place his new pokemon down on a table to be checked.

"A Bulbasaur. Weighs... 15.9 pounds. One of the heavier ones in there," she commented, writing away on her paperwork. She then started looking all around the Bulbasaur. "Male. Seems easy-going." Taylor just nodded along as she gave the information. She handed him a form with instructions to give it to the people at the desk.

Heading out with the form and his new pokemon, Taylor felt pretty good about himself. He handed it over to the desk. And then he sat his Bulbasaur on the ground, because his arms were beginning to tire from carrying him even that short distance. It made Taylor a bit upset that he didn't have more strength in his arms, but his Bulbasaur seemed to prefer the ground anyway. So maybe it worked out.

"Have a name for this guy?"

"Uhm," Taylor stalled, thinking. And then he felt like he needed to give a name, saying the first name that came to mind. "Jed." If the clerk had an opinion either way on the name, he didn't voice it, just nodding and handing Taylor a trainer kit and his ID. He gave a 'thanks' before heading over to the bench, where both Abby and Stanley were waiting.

"I see you guys picked," he greeted. "A Pidgey and a Pichu." He smiled, then gestured down to his Bulbasaur. The smile faultered as he said, "Uh. Well, his name is Jed." Jed made a noise at that, and Taylor wasn't sure if it was one of happiness or of discontent, but he was just going to pretend that it was a happy one.

Stanley listened to Abby respond. The boy wasn't certain how wise Abby had been making an on the spot choice for his Pidgey's name. The Pokemon had seemed pleased with it's name so who was he to judge. He gave a smile and nodded, petting Pichu after Aeroxia cooed towards his own trainer. He really was liking his choice. The little rodent was being well behaved, at least for now.

Before Stanley could respond to Abby, Taylor was upon them with his choice of Pokemon. It too had a nickname eh? Pichu looked to the bigger Pokemon and tried to nestle against Stanley more as the Bulbasaur made it's noise. It apparently not liking the sound of it.

"That likely answers your final question," Stanley stated to Abby with a small smile before addressing the other boy. "Yup that's right. So you gave your Bulbasaur a nickname as well? Seems like my little girl is the only one without one at the moment."

Pichu looked up to her trainer with aw eyes before giving a sad little squeak. With a smile, Stanley gave her a small pet of encouragement. "You'll get one I promise. I want to be sure to give you a good one."

The sad little squeak turned into a little higher pitched one. Enough to state that she was content with that.

"We were talking about how we made our choices and stuff," he told Taylor. "How'd it go?"

And as soon as he asked that question, Taylor showed up with his Pokemon.

"That likely answers your final question" Stanley stated before going back to talk to Taylor. Abby looked at Taylor's new partner, it was a Bulbasaur named Jed and Taylor had mentioned it was male.

Abby nodded. "Well... He doesn't seem to have any complaints about it"

He held up Aeroxia a bit so Taylor can see her better. "Her name's Aeroxia" he said as she gave Jed a look over. She appeared to be interested in the other Pokemon around her. "I chose her due to how caring she is"

Abby chuckled a bit before continuing. "I guess the both of us are on-the-spot decision makers... But it is better to think about a nickname"

After rejoining their little group, both Abby and Stanley had been quick to fill Taylor in on what their conversation had been and include him right in. At Abby's remark of Jed not seeming to have any complaints over his name, Taylor felt a little better about it. Except... Jed. Really? What kind of name was that?

"Take all the time you need to come up with a nickname," Taylor sighed. He looked down to the Pichu and smiled, saying, "Otherwise you might end up with a name like Jed. You don't want that, do you?"

Abby was showing his Pidgey, who was given the name Aeroxia. Jed watched Aeroxia, opening his mouth. And then he started talking in his grunts and noises. "Chose this guy because he likes to talk, really," Taylor laughed. He laughed more at Abby's comment of the two of them being on-the-spot decision makers, which seemed to be true.

Stanley kept quiet as Abby showed off his Pidgey. This was his spotlight moment and he wasn't about to take that away from the boy. Stanley couldn't help but smile at first with Abby. However when Taylor sighed, Stanley wondered if there was a problem? He wasn't certain and in no way was he going to open a can of worms by asking.

Stanley gave a slight chuckle at Taylor's reasoning for choosing his Bulbasaur. The little guy really was a chatty Pokemon. Pichu looked up to the bigger Pokemon as it started to make it's noise and then gave another squeak as if almost saying 'hello' to the other Pokemon, before she nestled herself back into Stanley's arms.

"I picked my Pichu because she came to me first," Stanley admitted. "The others then tried to push her away and she backed off. I felt sorry for her and decided to choose her."

Pichu was nodding her head in Stanley's arms. The little one peering up at Jed curiously.

"Maybe we should take our Pokemon somewhere that isn't so busy?" Stanley suggested. "So they can sit and get used to each other?"

Abby watched as Jed started to grunt and making noises towards Aeroxia. Aeroxia responded with some cooing, what was being said and whether the two could understand each other was unknown to Abby.

"Heh... Jed does seem to be quite the talker" Abby stated before glancing over to Stanley. "And that was nice of you, Stanley. I'm certain you and Pichu will be happy together"

Noting that Pichu seemed curious about Jed, Abby thought about Stanley's last question. He didn't really know much about the city, which Stanley was well aware of. And he was hoping to get more supplies but...

"That's a good idea" Abby responded. "Plus I might be able to know more about the city... And maybe get less lost during future visits"

"And maybe pass by a place that I can get supplies from" he thought to himself.
