Monopoly - It Always Ends With a Fight

Although it had been a quick flight for a creature like an icedevimon, whose wing span was almost twice the length of its body, traveling to the village on foot (and in a group to boot) had proven a much more involved task.

For one, they had to stop for a break twice, and they had to keep a good pace so that no one would become exhausted or overheated, or even too hungry, and by the time they reached the village it was late afternoon, very nearly time for them to settle down and eat something for dinner.

The village itself was settled upon a rather sandy area, with huts made of sticks and bamboo and vines for housing. There was an expansive pond that was like a mix between a lake and a swamp. The waters were clear and inviting, but evidently not the most ideal for much in the way of produce.

Raphael and Akito had not gone the whole way arm in arm, to their own--and likely Louisa's as well--relief. They parted ways sometime after the first half hour, but stayed close together for the duration of the trip. Raphael enjoyed being around Akito. He was masculine and sure of himself. Raphael was masculine--sometimes--but for all his bark, he was somewhat reserved inside, and felt deeply guilty for having gone off on Louisa, even if she did deserve it.

He was thinking about how to bring up the subject without just pissing her off some more, but he wasn't coming up with any good solutions. Every option seemed to end in some sort of brutal maiming on his part. He decided to take a break from thinking, and leaned up against a tree at the edge of the village to wait for everyone to catch up so they could figure out what to do from there. Hopefully it would involve food.

The walk had gone on peacefully enough for Kader...Raphael and Louisa hadn't come to another argument, which was probably some sort of triumph. That was good; if any other trouble had broken out, well, a Ballistamon was very effective in functioning as a bit of a wall to keep two irritated parties apart. She was ready to do that if she had to--they were too far along now to send anyone back by themselves.

It eventually became time for the group to regroup, rest, and try to figure out their next move. The village didn't look like it would be so bad, although Kader wondered where their food came from. The lake, perhaps. Fish and other shellfish, possibly some seaweed.

When they stopped, she selected a spot near a try and went to sit down for a moment, taking a load off for only a little bit. She didn't seem to be exhausted; her body language suggested she'd be ready to go in an instant if need be. "We should probably find a place to stay. Somewhere to establish a base of operations."

Louisa heard Kader speak to the ones who hadn't started to move. To be honest she didn't care at that moment. Datan had been the first to respond to the woman, Louisa didn't look back. She only even bothered to look when Hari came up beside her and then it was only briefly. What did he expect she do? Talk to him about it after that episode? Not likely. But to give the other Enesmon credit, he had given her something to think about on their walk.

The woman had remainded quiet, even at the two stops they made to rest for a little while. It was this kind of journey that made Louisa wish she could just become Piyomon and fly, forget the group. But that would likely put her in a bad light once more and she thought better of it. She had kept a reasonable distance from Raphael and Akito, choosing it as a more sensible option for the moment in time. She knew that couldn't last though. At least they had stopped being so glued together as they had been when they had started walking.

Raphael had placed himself by a tree as Louisa came forward, getting a better look at the village. The place was not exactly what she had expected, but she had seen worse upon her deliveries of good and the like. This was the kind of thing, in her view, that could have been good to know. Aka this place may not even be worthwhile staying near. But with it being late afternoon it wasn't like they really had much choice.

As Kader spoke, Louisa looked to the woman. Maybe resting for a while would be a good idea afterall. Since they were a group, everyone's welfare had to be taken into consideration.

"It maybe a good idea to find out if the locals are friendly before finding a place to stay?" Louisa finally spoke up. "If they aren't then we may have a problem getting a place to stay."

Dyna had handled the walk well. She had shrugged off the look she recieved from Raphael, feeling she had not done anything wrong. The most discomfort she had exeprienced was when Louisa stood by her, intruding a bit into what Dyna felt was her personal space. She wondered what the nod was about, though she figured it was just an acknowledgement of the thought to just get moving. As the group walked along, she maintained her usual distance from the others.

Everyone had come to a stop outside the village they were going to, thinking about what to do next. Like Kader, Dyna seemed ready to go at a moment's notice. She actually didn't care whether they stopped at this village or not. She was perfectly willing to stop somewhere in the woods and forage for whatever food they needed. And with their numbers they could easily just take turns keeping watch. But, Dyna knew that not all enesmon were as comfortable sleeping in the wilderness as she. She didn't mind having the security and comfort of a room and bed, but it was annoying to have to pay to sleep somewhere.

“So, we go in and find out if they're freindly or not,” Dyna stated, “Easy enough.”

Kader parked herself and was talking about establishing a base of operations, which Raphael was preparing to nod in response to, but then Lousia just had to go and irritate him again by mentioning something about needing to find out if the digimon here were friendly or not. Raphael frowned deeply, even more so listening to Dyna, who seemed to be leaning more toward Louisa's sentiment, that they needed to see if the digimon were friendly.

"What was the point sending me out here to scout this place out if they're just going to second guess my decision," Raphael murmured to Akito, cranky, and not really in the mood to deal with the women.

Akito shrugged. "Getting worked up about it isn't going to do any good," he said quietly. "Let them have their moments of feeling important. It doesn't really hurt anyone."

"True, it hurts no one, but it does make me wonder if I'll bother looking ahead for them again. Shifting does take energy. I could have saved it for the walk out here if they weren't going to believe me that they were a gentle bunch."

"Well, remind them," Akito suggested. "Just be nice about it."

"I'm always nice," Raphael stated, and it was mostly true, except for when it wasn't. He pushed away from the tree and advanced toward the others. "With all due respect ladies, we're not here to make friends with the locals, or to find a place to stay, and I've already established that the villagers here are not any threat to us. We're here to find out if there's been any trouble in the area. That is the task the counsel has given us. No more, no less."

"Well, Mono and I could just go lay down in a tree or something.." Datan commented.. "We used to hide out in.. er.." He coughed for a second. "Yeah.." He looked away. He wasn't sure what to say again. Ofcourse, his initial plans were just travelling around with Mono, seeing the world.. He could always count on Mono to pretty much have similar opinions.. or at least back him up.. But in this group, he felt a bit of an outsider. Even among a group of his own kind, it just felt odd to him..

"..If.. everyone's worried about how friendly they are.. I could, maybe, go into the village?" Datan blinked as he heard a voice behind him, before looking at Mono, who seemed to be the one who spoke up. "I'm a normal child level Digimon. I don't know if Monodramon are normal occurances in this village, but.." Mono gulped nervously. "Just.. well.. to.. calm everyone's thoughts? I could also ask around if there's been anything troubling, perhaps..?"

Neither Mono nor Datan were sure how the others would reply. Datan changed his line of sight back towards Raphael. As it seemed Raphael was the.. well, sort of leader of the group, Datan waited for him to say something. Mono, on the other hand, looked away, before looking around the group. He didn't want to specifically look at Raphael.. to Mono, Raphael may've also sort of been the leader of the group, but he's also the guy who could change into that IceDevimon. It.. didn't sit well with Mono.

Louisa wasn't entirely sure what to think as Dyna responded. The woman thought it was easy enough to find out if they were friendly? Was she that confident in her own skills? The woman was a hunter and it maybe easy enough for a hunter to do away with anything unfriendly if it came to it? She wanted to shake her head in a no fashion, that she shouldn't think that way, but it was still lingering in her mind.

She caught wind that Raphael and Akito were talking about something. She wasn't inclined to bother to even attempt to listen in to them. Chances were it was something that would piss her off somehow. When Raphael approached she could not help but think what does he want? Of course it didn't take him long to make a statement.

The 'with all due respect' made Louisa twitch inside, it was a phrase that she did not like, because he linked it to lack of respect by having to even say it. She simply looked to the man, masking any annoyance that she was feeling from her face. When she heard Datan and Mono follow up, she looked to the duo. Hari's words of advice started to ring in her mind a little and she shook her head to the Digimon.

"If Raphael states it safe," she answered calmy looking back to the village. "Then it proberly is."

At Raphael's remark of Louisa being rude, and then tacking on Sasha as well, the latter shrugged. She just wanted to know how the scouting had gone, and if she had been rude about going about it, well. She didn't exactly care. But Louisa had decided she would apologize to Raph and Dyna. Which resulted in Raphael showing his dislike for the girl. Sasha's eyebrows rose in surprise at the words that had been said. Mostly because Raphael had seemed like a relatively easy person to get along with, and for him to speak that way... She simply hadn't expected it to happen. At the very least not so very soon in the group's short time together.

Datan had decided to try to cool things down. Kader was explaining to him that it would be for the best for them to get their problems sorted out now. Sasha was still just standing there, trying to figure out just exactly what she thought about the whole thing. When that became too much of a problem for her, she simply stopped trying to think over it.

Sasha gave a small nod at what Raphael said he'd seen while scouting. The nod was more out of habit in showing that she was listening than for any other reason.

"Sure," she grunted in response as Kader urged her as well as some others to move along.

The group had made their way, resting a few times before making it to the village. They had made it in time for dinner and while that was something Sasha was pleased about, she was also pleased with the fact that the village was in a sandy area. It felt a little more like home, and that was nice for her.

Kader brought up the point of finding a place to stay, followed by Louisa's point of whether or not the villagers were friendly. Dyna seemed to agree with Louisa. Before Sasha had a chance to offer any of her own input, Raphael had come over and made the point that the villagers were in fact friendly and all they were doing was establishing whether or not there was trouble near the area. He had even shot down the idea of finding a place to stay, which wasn't exactly the best thing Sasha had ever heard. The thought of bunking down somewhere for the night was a nice one, but one that apparently wasn't going to happen.

You are here to do your duty, she reminded herself. Which meant that, in doing their duty, Raphael was in the right. Mono had offered to go into the village, followed by Louisa reassuring him that if Raphael said it was safe, then it probably was. Sasha smirked at that. Louisa was trying to stay on good terms with Raphael after their earlier incident, it seemed.

"He's right. We've got our duty, and that's all we're here to do. Friendly villagers, check. So," Sasha shrugged her shoulders, "let's do this."

Hari was used to walking so he wasn’t exactly exhausted, but upon seeing the peaceful looking village, he wanted to sleep under a tree near the waters like he did when before he came to know this group.  But he also liked Kader’s idea of finding a place to stay and he was getting a little hungry.  Hearing Louisa’s suggestion of finding out whether the locals are friendly or not, made him roll his eyes.

“Raphael did mention that the locals are mostly child level.  If they’re hostile, we can handle it.”  Hari spoke in a somewhat monotonous voice.  More like they can handle it.  Well, most of them anyway.  He directed his stare at Dalton. Thankfully, there little to no drama between Louisa and Raphael.  But Hari started to think that in the end, there might be a little bloodshed.  He is also getting more and more hungry by the minute.

“Perhaps the first thing we should do is find some sort of restaurant to eat.  We can plan our actions and observe the locals at the same time.  Plus, maybe some food should help settle our heads as well as our stomachs.”  He wasn’t sure if his suggestion will work or not, but either way, at least he can eat and being a merchant himself he can afford food for himself.

Dyna watched as everyone gave their opinion. Raphael seemed to think it was a non-issue, Datan was okay with remaining out of sight, Mono was volunteering to go ahead. Dyna started tapping her foot impatiently as many started to agree with Raphael after a while--Kader, Sasha, Hari, even Louisa, who had brought up the concern in the first place. Dyna didn't know the exact nature of what was going on between Raphael and Louisa, but knowing that the friction was there was disquieting. Having a rough group now could lead to bad things down the road if things were not resolved.

Well, Louisa's concerns, Raph's assurance, either way, Dyna was ambivalent. She just wanted to keep moving. And if they knew the village was safe, why did they  stop outside it? To rest? This was a waste of time, they could have easily come to a stop there.

Her restless feet ceased their idle movement, and a quick sigh escaped the hunter enesmon. She nodded at Sasha's remark of “Let's do this.”

“So then we just go in and see what's going on, maybe eat if we need to,” Dyna huffed, “Let's get on with it.”

Turning away from the discussion, Dyna continued on towards the village.

For once Louisa was content to listen to what the others had to say. She was trying to keep on at least non-argumentative terms with Raphael. For once she was listening to what someone had told her. She didn't get why it mattered so much, but it did. As Sasha spoke she nodded in agreement.

She hadn't wholly agreed with Hari's hostile comment, but chances are they could handle it...especially with an adult Icedevimon on their team. She nearly snorted with the Enesmon mentioned food. She already thought that Raphel had ruled that one out. But to her suprise Dyna was the one to take the lead. The way the woman spoke was interesting, she didn't seem to mind if they checked it out, ate or whatever. Someone who had the groups thoughts in mind? Maybe, it was too early to tell and she hardly knew the woman.

With a shrug, Louisa started to move forward herself. There was little she could say that hadn't already been said. Her head and shoulders were up, taking in what was in front of her. Her stride one of slightly more confidence and upbeat than it had been on the way here. Not exactly a spring in her step but close to it.

It was a bit of a relief that finally some of the party was getting a move on without further complaint. Raphael was glad it was the girls as well, at least some of them, the more unruly ones. That meant that for now trouble was out of the way.

Pulling away from Akito, Raphael said to Datan and Mono, "Listen guys, you don't need to offer yourselves up like that. It's noble of you, and we appreciate it, but if anyone should risk themselves in a new location, it's the adults. I'd feel awful if you were to get hurt after I said it was safe.

Smiling, Raphael patted him on the shoulder, and started after the girls, breaking through the trees, and emerging into a main section of the town.

"Ah.. okay.." Mono replied, looking away again as he got his answer from Raphael. It was kind of obvious he would say such a thing, right? Especially after mentioning the whole 'the village is safe' thing, and everyone else responding to it.. he just.. wanted to be helpful.. seem useful to the.. ah..

Datan heard a soft whine from, and as he turned around noticed Mono shivering behind him. He wasn't sure what triggered it, but he hadn't seen his friend like that before.. there was something bothering him, and Datan simply didn't know.. "..Mono?" Just Datan saying his name snapped him out of it. "...Ah.. it's.." He turned his head for a bit and smiled at Datan. "It's nothing.. d..don't worry.." Datan gave him a small smile back, but turned back to the group with a bit of worry on his face..

Not without reason either. As soon as Datan had looked away, Mono was looking downwards, and showed signs of distress. He slapped himself against his face, before looking at the rest of the group. "W..well then, shouldn't we just.. ah!" Just as Mono was going to suggest to start moving, he noticed most everyone had.. Well, it wasn't as if his sentence was all that audible, except for perhaps the ah at the end..

Datan had also already started following the group, and Mono just chased after him. It seemed Mono kept behind Datan specifically.. It wasn't as if he was truly scared, but something inside him told him to keep his distance..

As Dyna continued forward, she was able to observe some of the details of the village, like it's inhabitants. There seemed to be plenty of Gizamon and Betamon walking, with the occasional Syakomon hopping about along the sand. Though there seemed to be plenty of regular huts for living, there were a few larger ones, likely used for other things. There was possibly a place to sleep for travelers somewhere in such larger huts. One of the noticable buildings was a fair bit larger, featuring a large spinning pole coming from it's center. Possibly a mill, or soemthing else that would require some spinning.

As Dyna walked along, she saw some pools where more of the shell-covered Syakomon were. Ocassionally, a Gizamon or Betamon would come along and kick up sediment in the pools for some reason.

The digimon who saw Dyna leered suspiciously at her and any other approaching enesmon, but otherwise remained to their own devices. Dyna herself, after having walked enough to get a close look at the village, glanced back to see which of the other Enesmon had followed her.

Louisa continued to walk on, only briefly looking behind to see Raphael, Datan and Mono starting to follow. Figuring that anyone else who wanted to come would follow in due course she turned back around to take in what she saw about the village. It seemed to be a typical place, well typical for what she had seen from other villages when making her deliveries.

The only noticable thing she saw was the larger building with the pole. Well that was until she saw the Digimon. Her attention was off that and onto them. She didn't like the look that some of the Digimon were giving the Enesmon. Sure Enesmon were not always the most popular of Digimon, but Louisa was not used to this.

Dyna had glanced back now and Louisa gave the woman a questioning look.

"Does anyone else get the feeling we're not wanted here or something?" she stated in a some what low voice.
